Street Fest unprecedented success
A 24hr break in the rain came just in time for thousands of fun-seekers to make their way into Letchworth to enjoy the Street Fest. A torrential hail storm on Friday evening cleared the air and Saturday morning heralded glorious sunshine to ensure that all the performers and public got to witness a wonderful day in the Garden City.
With Eastcheap and Leys Avenue closed to traffic the crowds got uninterrupted freedom of the town centre as well over 100 performers entertained the. crowds across nine sites.
The Heritage Foundation stage hosted live performances from St. Chris' Jazz band, Phoenix Music Hall, Flexit, Tabeeya, Alter Ego, Younique, The Black Eagles, Titan the Robot, Mr Marvel and Senzala De Capoeira.
The FGH Stage also enjoyed The Black Eagles and Titan but also brought shows from Endless Summer, Pete Webb as Elvis, Jonski, Sufi Fusion, Tony Weedon, Social Status and an amazing set from Elaine Simpson.
The HSBC stage had a host of bands and musician performing, including: Stereo Breakout, The Mighty Wonderfuls, Randolph Matthews, The Shabby TInkerz, Indi and The Vegas, Joe Ferris, Donna Mackay, The Trailer Trash Orchestra, Andy Rivers and The Growling Old Buskers.
The Comet sponsored busking slots were filled with local talent such as Steph Scott, Owen Stephen, Scott Mendez, Raj Swamy, Pete Guy, Don Court, Michael Kumar, Kara Lee, Ben Plumpton, Renu Chopra and P.P. Dog.
A new stage, the La Concha stage hosted Mr. Speaker and the Right Honourable Gentlemen, Two Rivers, Rhytms of Egypt and 9 year old Sophie Richards who dazzled the crowds with her powerful voice.
Beans and Biscuits, Slap Skins Drum Troop, The Fiore Quartet and Kevin Woolnough also brought energy and entertainement to the Arena and Wynd stages to complete a dazzling line up.
