Buskers bring live music to The Arcade
Saturday 30th July saw three talented buskers strumming their stuff in Letchworth Garden City Town Centre. Visitors and shoppers enjoyed more than three hours of acoustic melodies, cover songs and original material from Pete Guy, Scott Mendez and Paige Martin, who had been invited to play in the Arcade by the Letchworth Town Centre Partnership. Shoppers stopped and showed their appreciation by dropping coins in the hat, or breaking out in spontaneous applause.
Event coordinator for the Partnership, Kim Barratt, explained: 'Live music really lifts the spirits, and on such a glorious summer’s day as Saturday Pete, Scott and Paige were a real hit. We really appreciate their enthusiasm and support. The Arcade is an ideal location for busking, with wonderful acoustics, and its unique shops.

'After Saturday’s positive reception we would love to have more free live music in the town centre at our authorised busker pitches. I’d urge any talented musicians interested in busking in Letchworth Town Centre to give us a call. We’d love to hear from you. As the Partnership arranges for the buskers to play, the public and retailers can be confident that everything is above board.'
